Can imr 4895 be used for reduced loads
WebDec 31, 2015 · I have been doing some research on reduced loads for the 7mm-08 for my grandson. It seems that the recommended powder is H4895. I went to Cabelas, and all they had was IMR-4895. Do you think there is that much difference between the two? I will be loading a 120 grain bullet, and the suggested start load is 35.2 of H4895. WebDec 30, 2012 · It was mild, about 2400 fps. I have no doubt that 43.0 grs of IMR 4064 is an equivalent. Most of my 308 and 30-06 IMR 4895 loads can be duplicated with a load of IMR 4064 that had one grain more of powder. A reduced load like this won't shoot worth a hoot in a Garand, but I had no problems what so ever in a bolt rifle.

WebMar 29, 2024 · I would rate Varget, H4895 and IMR 4064 as my top three choices. The H part of H4895 indicates that it is a extreme line series powder made by Hogdon. This means it is temp stable, a common complaint of RE15 powder. Work up a load, I have found good velocity with a accuracy. Lastly, its probably the most versatile powder out there.
